Throughout May, we took a look at what our Loading Systems South Westteam were up to.
Across the South West of England and South and Central Wales, they service, repair and install a wide range of industrial equipment including scissor lifts, dock levellers and shelters, industrial doors and much more.
From Penzance to Birmingham and beyond, they’ll keep your warehouse and distributions moving.
Our Loading Systems South West Regional Manager Jon has vast experience welding, fabricating and installing often bespoke constructions, from high-end staircases and wine libraries to precise machinery parts and vacuum furnaces.
His highly-skilled profession has taken him all over the world and we were delighted when he joined us in 2015 as an engineer. His hands-on capabilities and supervisory experience soon saw him progress into his current Regional Manager position. He loves building strong relationships with his team, customers and suppliers which he can rely on when he’s required to pull a rabbit out of a hat!
He takes pride in supporting his engineers and ensuring his own practical knowledge is sharp - any excuse to get his tools out again.
Outside of work, Jon is constantly tinkering with tires and transmissions, custom building his own motorbikes. He once owned 30 bikes all at once...!
Break-ins can be distressing and have significant impacts on businesses and colleagues.
We’ve got this on lock 🔒
Loading Systems Engineer Scot has worked at Pickerings for over 16 years so you can be assured that he has the knowledge and experience to keep your operations running.
Prior to joining us, Scot ran his own fabrication business, which involved manufacturing sections for the lift industry, machine repairs and bespoke parts for aging boats.
He loves the variety of his role, getting out and about to support our customers across the South West, problem solving and fixing scissor lifts, docks, shutters and more.
A producer of aircraft seats hit eject when their roller shutter door failed. We replaced it with a shiny new one, moving them up in the world.
As it was located in a high-traffic area, we installed safety sensors so the door wouldn’t operate when vehicles or colleagues moved into close proximity. We painted a grid on the floor to show the area covered by the lasers to further reduce the risk of accidents
The seat manufacturer can sit comfortably now.
We installed a replacement inflatable dock shelter in Somerset – very convenient for our ready meals producer client
The dock’s airbags inflate around the delivery vehicle to make a tight and effective seal, maintaining critical temperatures within food production facility.
Much like a microwave meal, it took us no time at all. Ping!
(Unlike a microwave meal, we didn’t prick the top of the inflatable shelter first 🍴)
Accidents happen, but we’re here to pick you back up!
Keeping operations moving smoothly and safely
In Worcester, a car auctioneer’s large shutter door suffered damage to the curtain and the motor began to fail; going once, going twice.
Not only did we install a new complete unit but as the customer had frustrations of the door being too large, we fabricated bespoke infills to sit above the door and therefore shortening the opening.
We also installed high-performance safety sensors that would halt the operation of the door when vehicles or personnel moved into close proximity, reducing the risk of accidents.
