In April, we headed to the Capital as we showcased the great work of our London North team.
From the foot of the Chilterns, through the heart of the city, towards the mouth of the Thames, our engineers will ensure your lift is working reliably.
Before relocating from South Africa, Joe and his wife owned and operated their own lift company, where they were responsible for maintaining and servicing major distributors.
Prior to this he’d built up 12 years of experience in the gas and welding industry, working his way up to become National Strategic Sales Manager. We’re delighted he brought his wealth of knowledge and skills to the UK and he joined Pickerings in 2021, soon working his way up to become our London North Regional Manager.
In addition to building strong relationships with customers, he is also often building Lego models, with a collection of over 50 large scale units of which the Mclaren GT3 and Formula 1 MCL 39 race cars are his favorites.
We appreciate how important a lift in a care home can be, allowing residents to remain mobile and ensure staff can easily transport medication, food and other comforts to deliver the highest level of care.
It was therefore a privilege to be trusted to carry out an overhaul of a lift at a care home in High Wycombe. We installed a full controller system, hydraulic tank, landing operating panels and car operating panels (LOPs and COPs).
Conscious of the disturbance it could cause to elderly residents, we conscientiously completed the work across two weeks keeping noise and waste build-up to a minimum with safety at the forefront of all of our actions.
Peter’s many years of experience working for suppliers of lift parts was so impressive that when he turned up for his job interview on a mobility scooter with torn ankle ligaments, we still offered him the job!
As our London North Repairs Manager he really enjoys working with his team, ensuring our engineers are in the right place, equipped with the tools and components they need to efficiently fix our clients’ faulty lifts.
Half-Danish Peter has Viking blood in his veins so is never over oared by a challenge and will get your lift shipshape faster than you can say SHIELD WALL!!!
Our London North office underwent a facelift - new facilities, furniture, carpets, signage, LED lighting and a lick of paint have breathed new life into our site in Romford.
Regional Manager Joe said: “It’s a pleasure coming to work. It doesn’t feel like the same office; everything is brighter and feels bigger. It’s great knowing Pickerings wants to invest to support its colleagues.”
New lift controller for an athletic-wear retailer? No sweat for our engineers.
The control system operates all the functions of the lift, including the buttons, doors, speed of the car movement, alarm and safety features, so requires a high level of expertise to install.
We bent over backwards for the yoga specialists.
All the work was carried out whilst their busy central London store was in operation, so our team ensured disruption was kept to a minimum, redundant materials were efficiently disposed of and robust safety measures were in place.
The sportswear store’s previous obsolete system was removed and new equipment installed, tested and commissioned within a week – on track, up and running!
Our London North Operations Manager Barry started out in the lift industry over 20 years ago and has been with Pickerings since 2013.
As a qualified engineer, he spent many years maintaining and fixing our customers’ lifts across London and the south coast. This hands-on experience is of great value in his current role.
He really enjoys supporting our engineers and delivering on our customers’ requirements but loves an excuse to dust his tools off and get involved if required.
Barry also plays pool competitively, so if you’ve got a snagging list racking up, you can count on Barry to clear the table.
Interior damage from weighty stock being maneuvered on pallet trucks and wear and tear from years of heavy usage had begun to take its toll on the passenger lift.
To mitigate the increased repair call outs, we submitted a proposal to modernise the lift .
As trusted partners since 2018, the national home improvements retailer had full confidence in our capabilities. As well as overhauling the damaged interior, we installed a Hydroware TractionElite H2 Controller which required a comprehensive rewire of the whole set up and fitting of various assets including the control panel, alarm system and control buttons.
We also installed a remote monitoring system which gives our client greater visibility of how the lift is functioning. This can help avoid unnecessary call outs, reduce downtime and drive efficiencies.
