Throughout April, we headed north of the border to take a look at our Scotland team.
From city apartment blocks in Edinburgh and Inverness to hard-to-find hotels in the Highlands and Hebrides, our engineers are well equipped to ensure your lifts are running smoothly.
Scotland, you’re in safe hands!
Our Regional Manager Les Robertson has been a manager at Pickerings for 20 years and prior to that spent over 25 years as a vehicle mechanic in the army.
From repairing military tanks and serving our country across the world, to maintaining lifts and coordinating our operations across Scotland, you can be confident that Les and his team have the know-how and nouse to keep your operations moving.
Our Scotland team recently refurbished a lift in a sheltered housing complex.
The team upgraded the control system and smartened up the interior of the lift car. All completed swiftly to minimise disruption for residents.
The council responsible for the site was very happy with the work. Well done team.
With almost 30 years’ experience in the lift industry, you can be confident our Scotland Operations Manager Alan Morrin is more than capable of fulfilling your requirements.
Alan brought his vast industry expertise to Pickerings five years ago, joining as an engineer and quickly progressing to technical support, supervisor and now operations manager.
He really enjoys his work, coordinating the team, sourcing required parts and tackling challenges to provide swift solutions and servicing support to customers across Scotland.
In his spare time, Alan lends his leadership skills to coaching his son’s football team at West Park United.
Whether it’s volleys and headers or valves and hydraulics, Alan’s enthusiastic approach will deliver results.
Sticking with our Scotland focus, it’s not just lifts we work on. Our Loading Systems team has been busy in Bellshill and Alloa, supporting warehouse operations for a well-known supermarket chain.
Our Loading Systems North engineers fitted dock pad seals to a loading bay in Bellshill, allowing delivery lorries to reverse up tight to the doorway and create a seal between the trailer and the dock. This will protect the goods from weather, prevent draughts and help prevent any pests from entering.
We also installed a bridge plate for the same customer, at their site in Alloa. A bridge plate is exactly that; a durable non-slip alloy plate that bridges the gap between the dock and the trailer to allow for the loading and unloading of stock. It then retracts neatly away when not in use.
Another couple of expert jobs for a satisfied national customer.
As part of our focus on Scotland, we joined Lead Repair Engineer Nick Beattie in Edinburgh as he installed a new autodialler to a disabled access lift at Morningside Public Library.
Phone lines across the UK are being upgraded to fibre by the end of 2027. This means copper phone lines to lift emergency autodiallers will be disconnected, potentially leaving passengers with no means of communication in an emergency situation.
Very worrying and not in compliance with EN81-28 regulations!
As Nick expertly demonstrates with his 18 years of industry experience, Pickerings has the solution to keep you connected. By installing a GSM Gateway with a sim card, the lift’s emergency button can make a call via the 4g network.
Book borrowers in Edinburgh won’t be losing the plot thanks to Nick’s library installation,
