This March the Pickerings Lifts team fundraised for Red Nose Day, Comic Relief raising over £150.
On Friday 19 March, the staff of Pickerings Lifts raised money for Red Nose Day, by holding a ‘wear it red’ day for their Head Office staff, regional office staff, and all of their engineers out and about on lift service, maintenance and repair calls. They also ran an online quiz to fully enable their locations throughout the UK to take part.
Together they raised over £150.
A charity conscious company and people
Neil Marsden, Sales & Marketing Director said
“Red Nose Day is a bit of a British tradition. It’s a bit of fun. Plus, you’re doing some good in the world. And let’s face it, I think the last year has changed a lot of people and families. We’re all more aware of how many people have really suffered, both physically or mentally, so if you can help, even if it’s only in a small way, I think you should.
Here at Pickerings Lifts, we’re very big on giving back to our communities and charities. We raise money for several charities, and these are changed, by vote of the employees, each year.
In addition, I’ve lost count of the number of individuals that work here, who are actively raising money in their own time. They’re supporting all sorts of charities… Alzheimer’s, mental health and cancer to name just a few… by walking, running, quizzing… and I’m very proud to be working with so many charity conscious people.”
In an interesting twist, Pickerings Lifts went cashless this year by inviting staff to donate on the just giving page, keeping their staff even safer from Covid-19.
Congratulations to those who won a goody bag for taking part in the quiz:
- James Hindle (Loading Systems Repairs Area Sales Manager)
- Ian Newman (National Projects & Technical Manager)
- Lee Cooper (Field Engineer)
- Jill Dobson (HR & Training Administrator)
- Lianne Whinham (Account Manager)
- Rebecca Jefferies (Key Account Manager)
- Laura Hughes (Central Customer Operations Administrator)
- Kelly Napier (Service Administrator)
- Jessica Dunn and Hollie Short (CSD)
- Jenny Kemp (Service Administrator) – Team East Coast Quizzers
What does Comic Relief do with donations?
Comic Relief, the charity behind Red Nose Day, raises money to support people living incredibly tough lives. Through humour and stories of hope, they show that people can make a massive difference.
They aim to help tackle important issues including homelessness, hunger, domestic abuse and mental health stigma, all of which have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
By funding hundreds of amazing organisations who are working on the ground they support the most vulnerable people and communities in society. This includes supporting vulnerable children and young people, people who are homeless or living in extreme poverty, women and families at risk of domestic abuse and those struggling with existing or new mental health problems.
