Pickerings Lifts was delighted to receive an award for their longevity and economic contribution from Stockton Borough Council.
Pickerings Lifts was established in 1854 by Jonathan Pickering, making it one of the oldest engineering firms in the UK. Its Head Office still remains in Stockton-on-Tees.
The award was received at Stockton Borough Council’s Annual Council Meeting in April 2018, where Councillor Eileen Johnson was appointed Mayor for the upcoming year.
Pickerings Lifts received the award from outgoing Mayor Councillor Maurice Perry, alongside other long-standing local companies including Newbys Solicitors, Francis Brown Engineering and Billingham Press.
A “widespread impact”
Outgoing Mayor Cllr Maurice Perry said: “It was a privilege to present these awards to such a fantastic group of businesses that have worked so hard for so long. I know there’ll be a lot of the Borough’s residents who have worked for one or more of the companies at some point in their lives and that goes to show how much of a widespread impact they have had on the Borough across the decades.”
The award has extra special meaning for Pickerings Lifts as they have been maintaining lifts for Stockton Borough Council since 1987.
The award was received by Customer Support Manager for our North East branch Rob Jensen, who has worked for Pickerings Lifts for thirty years. Rob started as a factory apprentice and worked his way to Assembly Team Leader and Repair Manager, before becoming Customer Support Manager at the start of 2018.
Rob said “It’s an absolutely fantastic achievement for Pickerings Lifts to be recognised by Stockton Borough Council for the hard work they have done throughout the years and I’m proud to represent the company today.”
