A scissor lift is an item of loading equipment. They are ideal for lifting and moving loads between different levels where the height difference is less than two metres, such as loading bays and docks. Pickerings Lifts covers the whole of the UK. We have twelve regional offices, and two dedicated Loading Systems offices.
With more than 200 engineers UK-wide, we have the resources and the capacity to respond to any scissor lift servicing needs. Each of our loading systems offices, and specialist scissor lift engineers carry stock spares for emergency call-out purposes, with the aim of completing the emergency repair on a first-fix visit.
Pickerings Lifts supports all installation of scissor lifts and associated loading bay accessories, with full maintenance, Pre-planned Maintenance (PPM) packages and emergency call-out and repairs. We also supply bespoke critical repair and spares packages to meet customer demands.
We offer a complete package, looking after all makes and models of scissor lifts, of any size or capacity. Installation of any new products and repair and refurbishment of existing scissor lifts is supported by an essential regular service schedule.
This Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) needs to be implemented to improve the longevity and efficiency of your equipment. it also ensures health and safety criteria is met, and the scissor lift is fully compliant with the most current legislation. A PPM schedule is essential because it is the law.
Pickerings Lifts PPM schedules include a complete full service on your scissor lifts, as opposed to an “inspection only” or “tick box” exercise.
You can see an example of a scissor lift PPM Check List here. The team will also make sure that any minor adjustment, tightening or lubrication is completed as part of the PPM visit.
They will clarify the details of your site, scissor lift and any other relevant equipment. Once they understand your requirements and how they can help – they can arrange for a free site survey by one of our qualified team if required – they will offer you a proposal with costs. This will be a tailored, bespoke proposal for your Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) visits.
All parts of the mainland UK are covered. Also included is our Call-out service. This is available to all regular service (PPM) customers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and we attend all sites to complete emergency repairs of your scissor lift within 4 hours as standard.
Once agreed, the full scissor lift details will be passed from your Account Manager to the relevant Regional Office. The regional office will contact you before the agreed scheduling of your first scissor lift servicing, to organise a convenient time for the PPM, clarify any specific site requirements and organise the risk assessments to be sent over to you, or your site nominated contact. Height access provision will also be confirmed if required.
Once agreed, the team will attend site. They will complete the PPM and organise PPM reports and any remedial quotes that are required for repairs and upgrades to your scissor lift. You should receive these within a day or so of service completion.
In order to confirm the required work is both required & necessary, our simple reporting process (that includes photos) uses the Red, Amber, Green (RAG) system. It is easy to understand, especially when customers or site contacts are unfamiliar with the technical nature of the equipment. All work on the scissor lifts is explained and catagorised to ensure that the customer understands if the repair is “essential” (health & safety critical – RED), “recommended”, (will help prolong equipment life and help to prevent further breakdowns – AMBER) or “good working order”, (where the equipment is in good order and safe to use – GREEN).
This method of reporting is used for both PPM and reactive visits for your scissor lift and associated equipment. This adds consistency to the process.
