Pickerings Lifts has been working with Theatre By The Lake since 2010 and provides a maintenance service for the theatre’s three lifts; one passenger lift and two disabled access lifts.
Theatre By The Lake is dedicated to providing accessible theatre to all audiences, providing audio described performances, captioned performances and relaxed performances for those with autistic spectrum conditions or learning disabilities. The passenger lift provides access to all levels of the building and can carry theatre patrons in wheelchairs.
The theatre is open 52 weeks a year and can hold upwards of 400 people, meaning that it is essential that the lifts remain functional at all times, especially during peak times of evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Pickerings Lifts’ dedicated engineers service the passenger lift six times a year, while the disabled access lifts are serviced twice a year to ensure the lifts have a long working life, and to minimise breakdowns.
As the theatre accommodates many people of different ages as well as tourists, engineers and management staff working on this contract are customer care, safeguarding and cultural awareness trained, and are Data Barring Service (DBS) checked.
Hilary Rhodes, General Manager of Theatre By The Lake said
