ForViva - Mobility Maintenance and Repair in the North West

Pickerings Lifts started working alongside ForViva in 2016, with Pickerings Lifts maintaining over forty units in older and disabled resident’s houses, including stairlifts, ceiling hoists and through floor lifts, as well as the installation of stairlifts.

Regional Manager for Mobility at Pickerings Lifts said:

“We were delighted to win the maintenance contract with ForViva. They share a lot of the same values as us; putting people first, transparency and a keen desire to innovate.”

Following being awarded the contract, the Mobility Team met with ForViva to determine a list of mobility units that would be maintained under the contract. A Mobility Engineer was assigned to each household, meaning that each resident would encounter the same engineer each maintenance appointment, ensuring familiarity and the same friendly face each maintenance visit. In total five Pickerings Lifts engineers work on the ForViva contract.

Each stairlift, ceiling hoist and through floor lift is serviced twice a year, where it is tested, adjusted and cleaned, ensuring it is maintained to the highest standard, minimising breakdowns and call-outs, as well as maximising lifespan.

If a piece of mobility equipment breaks down, Pickerings Lifts provides a 24-hour a day, 365 days a year callout service. A call is made to Pickerings Lifts who then assigns an engineer to attend. As mobility equipment breaking down can be traumatic for a resident, our staff will provide an estimated time of arrival for the engineer and can stay on the line to calm the resident if necessary.

As well as wearing company uniforms and ID cards at all times , all Pickerings Lifts engineers are DBS checked and are trained in safeguarding, so that if they encounter a problem or concern, in line with our duty of care, they will report it to either Pickerings Lifts management, ForViva or the emergency services.

Tony Smith at ForViva said:

“Although we have only been working with Pickerings Lifts for a short while, we work well together as a team. The residents that we look after feel comfortable in the presence of their engineers and we look forward to a long and productive working relationship with them.”
