Lift repairs and maintenance across the North West

We headed back up north for September as our monthly focus turned to our North West region. We showcased the great work and members of our team as they mended, maintained and modernised lifts from Manchester to the Isle of Man. They’re mad for it! 😅

South Wales Regional Manager Warren Griffin

Meet our Regional Manager Warren

Our North West Regional Manager Warren Griffin started in the industry as a lift engineer’s mate 33 years ago, joining Pickerings shortly afterwards in 1994.

Recognising Warren’s work ethic and potential, Pickerings supported him through his education, helping him qualify as an engineer and ultimately achieve an FdSc Degree in Lift Engineering and a BSc (Hons) Degree in Engineering from the University of Northampton.

Warren has progressed through his career to his current role as Regional Manager. He enjoys applying his technical knowledge and engineering experience to support clients and his team of engineers to achieve results.

Outside of work, Warren is a keen distance runner having competed across the world in locations as exotic (and exhausting) as Barbados and Florida, as pictured.

If you’re having elevator issues, Warren will lace up his trainers and get your lift running again 🏃🏻‍♂️‍➡️

Positive feedback for lift engineer Paul

Positive feedback from a youth centre in Bolton

A youth centre in Bolton was delighted with the support our engineer Paul Cotterill was able to provide.

Not only did he carry out an efficient service visit and complete the subsequent works but he also helped them fulfill some technical yet very important insurance reporting.

The centre’s facilities manager praised Paul: “I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the work Paul Cotterill has contributed to resolving these issues.

“Clearly not the first time he has had to deal with this particular insurance inspectors reporting, Paul was very helpful and patient as he talked me through and demonstrated that safety gear switches were operable and the manual function of the hydraulics. Not being the most technical, it did give me a great insight and understanding.

“Paul was very gracious with his time as he carried out his work efficiently and to the highest of standards.

“Paul is a great asset to Pickerings and we are fortunate that he is our engineer and I just wanted you to be aware how much I value his contribution and work.”

Excellent work Paul – proud to have you on our team 💪🏻

North West Repairs Manager Kelly Napier

Meet our Repairs Manager Kelly

Kelly joined Pickerings as an Apprentice Administrator 10 years ago and has since worked her way up to become our North West Service & Repairs Manager.

She has built strong relationships with long-term clients and really enjoys finding solutions for our customers, applying her experience and connections to get problem lifts back in action and running reliably.

As well as keeping lifts running she keeps herself running, having completed the Great Manchester Run last year, raising £265 for The Christie Chairty as a cause close to her heart.

There’s no challenge too big for Kelly, she takes it all in her stride.

Apprentice Olly completes a full shaft clean down

Scrutinise, scrub and sustain

After successfully winning a large NHS contract, our North West team carried out a condition survey and full lift shaft clean down at a hospital in their region.

Well done Apprentice Ole and his engineer supervisor Darrel (with a little help from Henry😉).

We fully understand and work to the high standards required for healthcare environments.

When welcoming a new client, we always like to review their units so we can address any potential issues, bring them up to standard if needed and maintain those standards throughout the length of the contract.

Operations Manager Gary Stanley

Meet our Operations Manager Gary

Gary was a gas engineer who ran his own business before he brought his skills over to Pickerings as our North West Operations Manager.

He completed a number of LEIA courses to sharpen his lift knowledge and complement his practical experience from working in a similar industry.

He enjoys working with customers, suppliers and engineers to coordinate parts and ensure lifts are kept in action.

In his spare time, Gary likes to keep active whether it’s kayaking, going to the gym or fell walking in the Lake District.
