Trainee Mobility Engineer
Pickerings Lifts is a national, well established, privately owned, independent, leading lift specialist with 170 years’ experience. We require a Trainee Mobility Service Engineer to join our Mobility Business Stream covering areas within the M62 corridor.. Working across the mobility range of products including Stairlifts, Through floor lifts, Platform Lifts, Hoists and Bath Lifts.
The ideal candidate would have mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience. A full driving licence and a willingness to travel and participate in a callout rota are essential.
Main Duties:
- Assist with Servicing: Support experienced engineers in servicing a variety of mobility equipment, learning how to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Fault-Finding Support: Observe and assist in identifying faults on mobility products under supervision.
- Repair Assistance: Help engineers carry out repairs on faulty or damaged equipment while developing hands-on technical skills.
- Safe Practices: Follow guidance to work safely on stairlifts, through floor lifts, ceiling hoists, bath lifts, mobile hoists, and wheelchair lifts.
- Documentation: Learn to complete basic paperwork and service sheets accurately, with support and training provided.
- Training & Competency Development: Actively participate in training programmes and complete all required courses to build skills, obtain industry-recognised competencies, and progress towards becoming a fully qualified Mobility Engineer.
Person specification:
- Interest in Engineering: Keen interest in mechanical/electrical work or mobility equipment, with willingness to learn.
- Qualifications: A relevant NVQ or technical qualification is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is preferred or willingness to work toward obtaining one.
- IT Skills: Basic IT knowledge, with training given on handheld devices, tablets, and customer systems.
- Work Ethic: Motivated, reliable, and eager to develop practical skills while working as part of a team.
