We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team at the Scotland Regional Office. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established company that values expertise, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

The purpose of the role is to provide advanced technical expertise in the diagnosis, repair, and upgrading of lift systems, ensuring safe, reliable operation across customer sites. The role supports engineering teams through technical guidance, training, and problem solving, while maintaining high standards of service delivery, compliance, and customer satisfaction in line with business and contractual requirements.

Main duties:

  • Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Attend customer sites to undertake detailed fault finding and accurately diagnose complex lift issues, providing effective technical solutions.
  • Technical Repairs: Carry out advanced repair works on lifts across a range of equipment types, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
  • Statutory Testing: Complete statutory testing following major repairs or refurbishments, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical guidance and support to other engineers across the business, assisting with complex issues and diagnostics.
  • Training & Mentoring: Deliver in-house training and mentoring to engineers, supporting skills development and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Modernisation & Upgrades: Identify and recommend improvements, upgrades, and modifications to enhance lift performance, reliability, and longevity.
  • Service & Call-Out Support: Carry out maintenance activities and respond to call-outs as required to support operational needs.
  • On-Call Participation: Take part in the out-of-hours call-out rota, ensuring responsive service delivery to customers.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Complete all job sheets, reports, and customer documentation accurately, including electronic and manual systems, ensuring compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Site Surveys: Carry out detailed site surveys for repairs and modifications, providing accurate technical information for planning and costing purposes.
  • Supplier & Technical Liaison: Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and external agencies to source parts and identify technical solutions.

  • Self-Motivation: Highly self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver results independently.
  • Customer Focus: Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach on site.
  • Independence & Initiative: Capable of working with minimal supervision while managing workload effectively.
  • Positive Attitude: Enthusiastic, proactive, and demonstrates a strong “can-do” approach to challenges.
  • Driving Licence: Holds a full, valid UK driving licence.
  • IT & Systems Skills: Competent in using digital devices, systems, and customer platforms for recording and reporting work activities.
  • Technical Qualifications: Qualified to NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in a lift engineering discipline.
  • Teamwork: Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Training & Development: Willing to undertake further training and professional development as required.
  • Flexibility: Able to respond to changing work demands at short notice and adopt a flexible approach, including occasional working away from home where required.
