Job Title – Technical Support Engineer

Pickerings Lifts is a national, well established, privately owned, independent, leading lift specialist with 170 years’ experience. Due to continued success and growth, we require a Technical Support Engineer to cover the Scotland region.

The successful candidates will have experience working with all types of lifts and controller manufactures, as well as the ability to think critically and creatively. A qualification to NVQ 4 or equivalent is required.

Main Duties:

  • Attend customer’s sites for in-depth fault finding and to diagnose problematic lifts.
  • Complete technical repairs on customer sites/lifts.
  • Carry out statutory testing after major repairs/refurbishments.
  • Provide technical support for other Pickerings Lift Engineers.
  • Provide in-house training and mentoring to Pickerings Lift Engineers.
  • Provide solutions for upgrading and modifying problematic lifts for increased reliability.
  • Complete maintenance and normal callouts as required.
  • Participate in the out of hours call out on a rota’d basis.
  • Complete job sheets as well as customer paperwork where necessary (electronic and manual) including logging onto / off customer systems as required.
  • Carry out site surveys for modifications/repairs.
  • Provide accurate site/lift information for management consideration.
  • Liaise with lift manufacturers, suppliers and agencies for technical solutions.

Personal specification:

  • Be highly self-motivated
  • Have great customer service skills
  • Work under minimum supervision
  • Be enthusiastic with a can-do attitude
  • Hold a valid driving licence
  • Be computer literate and be IT savvy.
  • Be qualified to or above NVQ4 (or equivalent) in a lift engineering discipline.
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be willing to undertake further training as required
  • Be able to respond and react to work demands at short notice for the good of the business.
  • Have a flexible working approach as there may be some working away from home
