Mobility Service Engineer

Pickerings Lifts is a national, well established, privately owned, independent, leading lift specialist with 170 years’ experience. We require an experienced Service Engineer to join our Mobility Business Stream covering areas within the Northwest. Working across the mobility range of products including Stairlifts, Through floor lifts, Platform Lifts, Hoists and Bath Lifts. The ideal candidate would have mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience. NVQ level 2 is essential. A full driving licence and a willingness to travel and participate in a callout rota are essential.

Main Duties:

  • Mobility Equipment Servicing: Carry out regular servicing of a wide range of mobility equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Identify and assess faults across various mobility products, ensuring accurate troubleshooting.
  • Repairs: Complete repairs on faulty or damaged equipment, restoring products to full working order.
  • Safe Working Practices: Work safely on stairlifts, through floor lifts, ceiling hoists, bath lifts, mobile hoists, and wheelchair lifts in line with safety standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete all required paperwork and service sheets to maintain detailed service and repair records.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned to support the needs of the department.

Person specification:

  • NVQ 2: Minimum qualification or working towards NVQ 2 in stairlift engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge: Experience in servicing and repairing mobility products, with an NVQ Level 2 (or apprenticeship plus industry experience) being advantageous.
  • Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is essential, with a company vehicle provided.
  • IT & Systems Use: Confidence using handheld devices, customer log-in systems, and company tablets (training will be provided).
  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated with the ability to deliver a high standard of workmanship while working under minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork & Independence: Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
