Overall function:
To learn the trade of Lift Maintenance Engineer by efficiently assisting and following direction from a Lead Maintenance Engineer / Technician; undertaking duties as requested by the Lead Engineer, and completing the Level 3 Lift & Escalator Electro-mechanic Apprenticeship Standard (Lift Service / Repair pathway) which includes mandatory completion of the L3 QCF NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (Lift Service or repair) and may include completion of technical lift certificate in order to become competent at the effective management of a lift maintenance route within a defined geographical area.
Main duties:
- To become proficient in the maintenance of all types of goods, passenger and service lifts including: Traction, Hydraulic, MRL’s and Platform Lifts in a variety of different environments
- To assist with completing maintenance schedules as directed by the Lead Engineer / Technician
- To undertake minor repair duties, as directed by Lead Engineer / Technician
- To conform to and utilise best practice within Health & Safety at all times
- To become proficient at maintaining in house service management system with real time site reporting
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Completion of L3 Lift & Escalator Electro-mechanic Apprenticeship standard
Person specification:
- Customer focused with the ability to convey a professional attitude at all times
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills and listening skills
- Must be good time keeper and reliable
- Good organisation and prioritisation skills
- Self-motivated to study to complete Apprenticeship standard and other industry specific qualifications including technical certificates
- Willingness to complete study through day release and / or remote on line learning to meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship standard
- Interest in electrics and mechanics and / or previous mechanical / electrical experience and or qualification desirable
- Entry requirements to meet the Apprenticeship standard; ideally 3 x GCSE’s Maths, English min. grade 4. and a science or technology or engineering or Level 2 equivalent
- Full driving licence desirable but not essential
In addition to the above, the post-holder will also be required to undertake additional duties as appropriate to the nature and level of the role.
