We are currently seeking an Apprentice Lift Installation Engineer for this exciting opportunity in our Lift and Access Products department.

The successful candidate will join our busy Lift & Access Products team and be responsible for assisting lead engineers to install new lift equipment.

We are looking for an Apprentice Lift Installation Engineer who is ideally based in Sheffield or surrounding area, but the work will be National with overnight stays required when needed by the business. Driving license is essential as company vehicle will be provided.

Through work experience, studying, coaching, training and development (both practical and vocational) the apprenticeship standard will give you opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that you will gain from working closely with our experienced engineers.

The duration of your apprenticeship will be 3 to 4 years.

Main duties:

  • Assisting the Technician in repairing a varied range of lifts including Traction, Hydraulic, MRL’s and Platform Lifts in a variety of different environments.
  • Use hand tools & power tools to mechanically construct and fit a new lift installation
  • Carry out health, safety and environmental checks to make sure that the working area is safe in line with on site health and safety regulations this will include removing waste materials and keeping a clean and tidy area
  • Learning from the Lead Engineer how to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams to be able to fully install the electrical components of the lift
  • Assist the Engineer to plan the unloading and storage of materials
  • Learn on the job how to analyse complex instructions from manufacturer manuals, layout, schematic and block diagrams
  • Work as a minimum two person team with a Lead Lift Installation Engineer
  • Communicate with Project Managers, Site Management and team members effectively
  • Undertake manual lift and handling of lift parts and equipment

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The Apprentice will complete the Level 3 Lift Electromechanic Apprenticeship Standard which includes the mandatory completion of an NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation

Through work experience, studying, coaching, training and development (both practical and vocational) the apprenticeship standard will give you opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that you will gain from working closely with our experienced engineers. The duration of your apprenticeship will be 3 to 4 years and may include day release and college attendance virtually or in person

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified Lift Installation Engineer and gain a full time employment with Pickerings Lifts

Additional routes taken once qualified could lead you to do your Level 4 or study an area of expertise

In addition to the above, the post-holder will also be required to undertake additional duties as appropriate to the nature and level of the role.
