We welcome our new colleagues Amy, Joe and Gary to the Pickerings Lifts family.

Our colleagues come from all walks of life.  Equally, new colleagues are often at different stages in their careers. That’s one of the things that makes working in a company like Pickerings Lifts so interesting.

You have the opportunity to work with people with vast lift, loading systems, escalator, mobility maintenance and product experience.

Welcome on board…

Meet Amy Bowes, our newly-appointed Telephone Sales Executive.

She started with us back in September 2021, and is based in our Head Office in Stockton-on-Tees.

She comes with a wealth of knowledge in all types of lifts commercial and domestic, and has excellent customer service experience.

We asked Amy what attracted her to Pickerings Lifts

“Working in my previous role I had dealings with Pickerings Lifts, and so was already aware often company’s great reputation from speaking with clients and engineers on a regular basis.

When I was offered the role, I knew that this would be a perfect opportunity for me to expand my knowledge within the lift industry and be part of an ever-evolving company.”

Amy is already enjoying her new role as it involves establishing positive relationships with both existing and potential customers all over the UK, and making innovative contributions to the sales and marketing department to help expand our services.

And in her spare time…you will find Amy training hard in the gym – “I’m usually there every morning before work. The 04:25 alarm isn’t always welcome, but I find a good workout sets me up for the day!”

Her all-time favourite TV show would have to be Friends, as it still makes her laugh even though she has seen every episode at least 10 times!

Joe Greyling is based in our London North regional office and is working with the team as a Repairs Co-ordinator.

He has enjoyed an amazing career in the lift industry, having previously worked as a general manager for a lift company owned by him and his wife in South Africa.

His role involves the management of the repair process, to compile quotations, plan and schedule appointment for our repair engineers to attend to our customers.

He also carries out dilapidations, lift condition reports, detailed surveys, site visits, quality audits, joint engineer visits and customer meetings.

However he does manage to find time for hobbies too!  A car enthusiast, Joe collects cars and enjoys building kits. He also enjoys taking his dog out on long walks and adventures, and will always make time to watch Formula 1 and rugby – “definitely the Springboks”!

Operations Manager, Gary Stanley has been with us for over three months now and is based in the North West Manchester regional office.

Gary was previously in the gas industry and wanted a change of direction and to further his career. He has no previous experience of the lift industry, but has a number of transferrable skills that have enhanced the diversity of the team.

His previous role was as a field manager in the utilities sector. He managed, coached and developed a team to become one the best in the country for productivity, completion and most of all, customer satisfaction. He was proud of the journey they made together and how they became more like friends than simply work colleagues.

Gary has found his feet quickly, and because his colleagues in the regional office have such a wealth of knowledge and experience, there’s always someone on hand to provide support if needed.

We also asked Gary what attracted him to Pickerings Lifts

“I was looking for a change of direction and I came across the job advertisement. After speaking to Regional Manager, Warren Griffin, and undergoing a very professional and informative interview, I knew that Pickerings was the right company for me.

I liked the family heritage of how it started, the work ethic and most importantly the way in which they care about all of their employees and how they encourage development within.”

Gary’s role will be creating a bridge between engineers, management and clients to facilitate greater efficiency, communication and growth.

When he is not working Gary goes to the gym, likes visiting pubs, nice restaurants and also visiting the Lake District for hikes with his wife.
