Pickerings Lifts has a rich history of employing apprentices since forming in 1854; many of whom have remained with the company for the majority of their careers. We widely encourage new entrants into the lift industry and have provided valuable training opportunities through apprenticeships and work placement schemes.
Involved with the Lift and Escalator Trailblazer Group to receive a standard apprenticeship approved by BIS Government Department, we recruit Lift Engineering Apprentices, utilising local training providers and colleges for academic training.
The training, which lasts 36-42 months, allows apprentices to gain valuable hands-on experience within the lift industry, encouraging students to pursue careers in the lift industry, further supported by recognised trade qualifications and the opportunity to potentially achieve a lifetime career.
We also provide a large listing of apprenticeship opportunities in addition to Engineering Apprenticeships across a range of departments and job roles including; Business Administration, Customer Services, IT and Accounts.
Opportunities for valuable work experience are offered to students at local schools and colleges to introduce them to the lift industry and the different careers available within a commercial environment.
Our Apprentices’ progress and training needs are continually assessed by our management team and HR; with one-to-one time allocated regularly to ensure each individual has an end development plan and is receiving the correct training and mentorship from the Company.
We are committed to the recruitment of apprentices, which varies widely in line with business and requirements and we will always continue to invest in the region’s youngsters of today; offering the opportunity to learn from highly skilled engineers and trained in our extremely specialised industry. The recruiting of apprentices and nurturing them through their training, is close to the heart of our organisation.
We ensure that we celebrate our apprentices throughout National Apprentice Week each year and enthusiastically seek feedback from apprentices – past and present, to glean an insight into how they are enjoying their course, or in which direction their career has taken them since their apprenticeship opportunity!
